Membership Dues

Please keep your membership current and promptly renew your membership. Individuals who have paid their dues will be charged a discounted registration fee to attend our meeting. Non-members, and members in arrears will be charged a registration rate greater than the members rate + dues. So, keep your membership current and promptly renew your membership!

Dues for Ordinary members are $125. Student dues are $30/yearPostdoc dues are $30/year for the first 3 years after graduation and then rise to $50/year. Emeritus dues are $0.

2008 Bernard Haber Award

Jean de Vellis received the 2008 Bernard Haber Award at the ASN Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

The Bernard Haber Memorial Award recognizes outstanding leadership and contributions in the field of Neurochemistry. The recipient has the opportunity to organize a symposium at the ASN Annual Meeting in the year following the award.

Recieves 2008 Jordi Folch-Pi Award

Monica Carson (left) presents Tiina Kauppinen (right) with the 2008 Jordi Folch-Pi Award at the ASN Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Kauppinen’s research focuses on molecular signals and effector pathways in microglial activation and their downstream impact on brain inflammatory responses.

The Jordi Folch-Pi Award is given to an outstanding young investigator who has demonstrated a high level of research competence and originality, who has significantly advanced our knowledge of neurochemistry and who shows a high degree of potential for future accomplishments.

Dr. Kauppinen will recieve $1500 and has been invited to organize a Symposium at the Charleston SC meeting.

 

Birgit FogalBirgit Fogal

Receives 2008 Marian Kies Award

Jean Harry (left) presents Birgit Fogal (right) with the 2008 Marian Kies Award at the ASN Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.  During her graduate work Birgit focused on mechanisms by which inflammatory mediators contribute to the progression of neuronal injury following cerebral ischemia (or stroke).

This award is presented to an outstanding newly minted cellular and molecular neuroscientist.

Dr. Fogal will recieve $1500 and has been invited to organize a Symposium at the at the Charleston SC meeting.
