    Jordi Folch-Pi Award is given to an outstanding young investigator who has demonstrated a high level of research competence and originality, who has significantly advanced our knowledge of neurochemistry and who shows a high degree of potential for future accomplishments. The award is a cash prize of $1,500 and plaque, and the recipient has an opportunity to organize a symposium at the ASN Annual Meeting being held the year following presentation of the award.

    Jordi Folch Pi was a Catalan biochemist at Harvard University (McLean Hospital) who is recognized universally as one of the founders of the field of structural chemistry of complex lipids and as a leader in the development of Neurochemistry as a distinct discipline within the Neurosciences. He was born in Barcelona, Spain, on March 25, 1911, and died in Boston, Massachusetts on October 3, 1979, at 69 years of age.

    • Nominee need not be an ASN member.
    • Nominee must reside in the Western Hemisphere, which according to ASN's Standing Rules is defined as Canada, North America, Central America, South America, US Possessions and the Caribbean; nominees need not be a member of the ASN, but they should be eligible for membership. If there have been any breaks in career continuity such as new children or illness, extension of eligibility will be granted according to current NIH rules.
    • Nominee must not be more than ten years past awarding of their doctorate at the time of nomination.

    ASN members attending the Annual Meeting are encouraged to showcase the artistic side of scientific imaging by entering the Presidential Imaging Art of Science Image Contest. Past Presidents of ASN will be judges and select four (4) final images that will be showcased during the annual meeting. Winners will receive a certificate in addition to recognition during the meeting.

    Judging is based on scientific significance, originality, and artistic and/or visual impact of the images. Images submitted for competition may be obtained using any imaging technique, i.e., histology, IHC, EM, heat maps etc., or obtained by combining multiple images into one artistic image. All images must have a connection to Neurochemistry/Neuroscience research.

    Bernard Haber Award Nomination

    This award recognizes the leadership and outstanding contributions of Dr. Bernard Haber to the field of Neurochemistry. Bernard was tireless in his outreach efforts and in forging fruitful interactions and lasting bonds of friendship and collaboration among the world's neuroscientists.

    Dr. Haber served the ASN in many other capacities, and his dedication and energy have contributed in large part to the growth and reputation of the American Society for Neurochemistry.

    The recipient of the Bernard Haber Award has the opportunity to organize a symposium at the ASN Annual Meeting in the year following the award.
