POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN NEUROIMMUNOLOGY AND INFECTIOUS DISEASE

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA MEDICAL CENTER- Omaha, Nebraska

A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tammy Kielian in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, Nebraska (https://www.unmc.edu/pathology/faculty/bios/kielian.html). The candidate will direct independent projects related to the role of innate and adaptive immunity in host defense against Staphylococcus aureus using a mouse model of S. aureus craniotomy infection as well as translational research with clinical specimens from patients with craniotomy infections. Our laboratory utilizes numerous tools to explore host-pathogen crosstalk, including single cell RNA-seq, epigenetic platforms, and transposon sequencing. Twitter: @KielianLab

The Department of Pathology and Microbiology has over 60 faculty members, nearly 100 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and residents working in modern, well-equipped labs with state-of-the-art facilities. The Staphylococcal Research Group at UNMC (https://www.unmc.edu/pathology/csr/) offers a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment for the study of staphylococcal infections.

The successful candidate should possess a PhD in neuroimmunology or a related background and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
